YORKSHIRE WEDDING VENUES

Nicknamed 'God's Own Country' for it's vast stretches of unspoilt countryside, Yorkshire is an amazing place for wedding photography. Just over an hour's drive away from my home, Yorkshire counts as a local wedding venue for me. It offers a very wide range of wedding venues catering to a wide array of couples.

Urbanites can have city weddings in Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield or York, while at the other end of the spectrum, those with a rural bent can have a farm wedding - Dale Farm is a favourite of mine. Mansions and Halls occupy the middle ground and blend history and tradition with expansive grounds. Blagdon Hall and Kirklevington Hall are two wedding venues I've enjoyed photographing recently.

Parts of the Peak District National Park are in Yorkshire and this rugged landscape is perfect for pre-wedding and engagement photography. If you are looking for a romantic backdrop for couples photography the seaside town of Whitby is very special. Whitby Abbey was Bram Stoker's inspiration for Dracula!

I photographed one of my most memorable pre-wedding shoots in South Gare on the Teeside coast. You have the North Sea coast with a backdrop of industrial buildings from the areas steelworks and mining past. Add in a spectacular sunset and you have an epic engagement session!

Yorkshire is such a vast county, the largest in the UK, that it really does have something for everyone, whatever type of wedding they are planning.

REAL YORKSHIRE WEDDINGS

A bride and groom leave the Yorkshire church arm in arm being showered in confetti

A smart but informal farm wedding

Creating this blog a few months after the wedding allowed me to go back over the photos and see what I captured, what I created.

I see photos with true meaning; candid, fleeting, real moments. Moments full of emotion, feeling, colour or just plain fun.

And of course we finished off the day with some glorious night portraits.

A glorious wedding on a farm

The rain was beating down on the church steps.

'I don't think we'll be able to make the clifftop portraits,' I said.

The rain eased off for a moment.

'Let's do it,' said Katy. 'Let's get up on the cliffs.'

So we ran through the drizzle and the wet grass, Sarah holding up Katy's dress and Tom holding the umbrella.

And we got our clifftop photographs, overlooking the Yorkshire coast.

I love brave brides.

Grow it.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
