I first photographed Linden Hall for Aigul and Kevin's wedding in November 2014. You can see my previous blog post about my Linden Hall wedding photography here. Sadly, the weather was wet, foggy and cold, so I didn't manage to make the most of the venue and its grounds, but it was still a great wedding venue and I'd like to explore it a bit further in this blog post.
Linden Hall is a magnificent grade II listed Georgian country house set in the heart of a beautiful 450 acre private estate. The Hall has been restored to capture its original elegance and the gardens are perfect for reception drinks and photographs.
The impressive Macdonald Linden Hall Golf and Country Club was built by merchant and banker Charles William Bigge in 1812. Boasting several versatile function rooms, a spa and an 18-hole golf course, it's the perfect venue for weddings and business events.
Linden Hall has eight function rooms available for weddings, either as ceremony rooms or for your wedding breakfast or drinks reception.
The spacious Bigge Suite features original architecture and dazzling views of the gardens and Northumberland countryside beyond and is the hotel's ballroom with room for up to 300. Fully-equipped, the room is perfect for corporate banquets or receptions for up to 200. As Aigul and Kevin's wedding was quite intimate, we didn't use this room.
The richl;y decorated Stamfordham suite holds up to 100 people, as can the Adamson suite, with it's wooden beamed ceiling. The bright and airy Liddell suite can accommodate 60 guests, while the compact Ames suite can take up to 30 people. The Library is ideal for very intimate gatherings of 15 or less and the Conservatory takes a similar number of guests. Finally, the Drawing room can hold up to 40 people.
Linden Hall has two wedding co-ordinators, Karen and Tracey, will gladly assist you along your journey to planning and hosting your perfect day. With a friendly and professional service, you can relax, knowing your day is in safe hands.
Linden Hall holds wedding open days on the last Sunday of the month so if you would like to view the rooms prior to booking get up there for a drive and see what it has to offer.
I'd love a chance to get back to Linden Hall to make more use of the stunning grounds in my photographs, because the last wedding I photographed there was dar, wet and cold and I couldn't get the couple outside, even with an umbrella. The closest I got was getting the guests under the portico while I stood out in the drizzle!
The grounds look stunning, so if the weather cooperates I'm sure there would be some stunning landscape wedding photographs to be had. The rooms inside the venue can be a little dark, so flash may be required.
- This venue has everything in one package; spectacular grounds, a country hall and accommodation for guests. Once you are all there, you don't need to go elsewhere.
- Great potential for photography if the weather is good.
- This is a very traditional wedding venue, so won't appeal to the urban crowd looking for something a bit different.
- The venue is also used for corporate functions and this feel comes through in the website and the Hall.
- At £15,000 to hire the Hall exclusively for your wedding, you will find other peopleat the venue on your wedding day.
