Newcastle Wedding Suppliers - Becca Rose Beauty

Becca is a lifesaver!

I was organising a vintage styled wedding shoot at the Discovery Museum and my usual hair stylist had to pull out as her better half had surprised her with a weekend away for her birthday. I put the call out via Facebook and Becca offered her services, early on a Sunday morning.

Becca did a superb job for our shoot. Becca chose a hairstyle based on a Gibson tuck/roll which originated from Edwardian times and was later a popular style for women in the 1940's. It was achieved by curling all of the hair and rolling sections then pinning. This was a great hairstyle for working women in the war as it kept their hair neat and out of the way, it became a popular fashion style after the war.

Although we already had a make-up artist onboard, so only used her hair styling services, Becca can provide both, so that's one less thing to organise on your wedding day.

This is how Becca describes herself and what she does:

"Since I was very young, makeup had a huge influence on my life, my mother was a makeup artist who worked within bridal, catwalks, TV shows and later went on to teaching and managing hair and makeup within education. I remember sitting watching her doing her makeup on a daily basis and being absolutely mesmerised by it all. She was naturally beautiful but when she applied makeup she could turn every head in the room. It wasn't about applying loads of makeup or having a mask to hide behind. It was about applying the right amount, the right colours, the right style in the best way to enhance her natural features and confidence. Later on in life she taught me these skills and helped me to use makeup in a way that compliments natural beauty. I believe this is key when applying makeup; a makeup artist should help you to look like the best version of yourself, highlighting all the fantastic features you have.

My love for hairstyling came from within, I wanted to help to complete the whole look and style hair to compliment face shapes and features, in a similar way to makeup. Hair can be a statement of fashion, creativity, tradition, vintage or sophistication and can even mix and match styles to create something new. Amazing things can be done with hair and makeup when you have the right skills and knowledge. I couldn't imagine doing anything else; I love nothing more than helping brides and individuals feel beautiful and confident for their wedding day, special occasion or as a treat."
