I first met Laura from Reflection Hair and Beauty when I began to organise my vintage styled wedding shoots for Tyne and Wear Museums. She participated in the Great North Museum (Hancock) shoot and the Laing Art Gallery shoot. The only reason she didn't help out with the third shoot was that her other half whisked her away for a surprise birthday weekend holiday.
For the Great North Museum shoot we went for a 1950's feel with the bride wearing pearls, a veil and red lipstick. These all complimented our model, Nicolle's, red hair, which Laura styled with tight curls. A gold and green headband completed the look.
We went for a different era for our shoot at the Laing Art Gallery.
The vintage styling of wedding dress suited our model, Amy’s, figure. She is a swimmer and could pull off the floaty, bohemian vintage vibe perfectly. Vintage sandals and jewellery completed the look.
By the 70’s a more of a natural makeup look was in fashion, with things like shimmery eyeshadows in pale browns and oranges, so our makeup artist did a more modern interpretation of that style.
The whole ensemble was set off by the flowers in the brides hair which we hoped linked her to the romantic art of the 1800’s (which is on display in the gallery) as well as tied into a boho feel.
In a similar way, Laura gave Amy a very free flowing hairstyle, with tumbling curls, loosely tied up at the back.
As well as lending us her invaluable expertise in terms of her hair styling, Laura also allowed us to use her salon as a base to work from, so no request was too much for her. It's this sort of attitude that would also be a great advantage on your wedding day, so I'd recommend Laura as your hair stylist on your big day in a heartbeat.
