Katy & Tom's farm wedding in Yorkshire

The rain was beating down on the church steps. Rain hadn't been forecast. It was supposed to be dry. Cloudy but dry.

'I don't think we'll be able to make the clifftop portraits,' I said.

We were making do with portraits under the tree canopy in the Church grounds when the rain eased off for a moment.

'Let's do it,' said Katy. 'Let's get up on the cliffs.'

So we ran through the drizzle and the wet grass, Sarah holding up Katy's dress and Tom holding the umbrella.

And we got our clifftop photographs, overlooking the Yorkshire coast.

Great call, Katy.

I love brave brides.

I met Katy and Tom when I photographed Sarah & Bry's wedding at Ellingham Hall, which was subsequently featured on Brides up North. When they asked whether I'd be willing to travel to Yorkshire to photograph their wedding on a farm I jumped at the chance. I knew it would be a great bunch of guests, a fun day and a great party. Add in a picturesque venue in a gorgeous part of the world - including clifftop portraits and glorious sunsets over wheat fields and I was in photographers heaven!

In the summer before the wedding we met up in Whitby for a pre-wedding photo shoot. I found Katy and Tom so easy to get along with, and they came across so well on camera, that I couldn't wait for their wedding.

And it didn't disappoint.

I could go on sharing photographs from Katy and Tom's wedding forever.

Rarely have I enjoyed editing a wedding so much.

This light.

This location.

This couple.

It takes a lot of people to come together to make a perfect wedding. I may take the photographs of the finished product on the wedding day but I'm always grateful to all of the other wedding suppliers who helped to make my photographs so special for Katy and Tom.
