A Durham wedding in a deer park with Zoe & Liam

I was super excited when Zoe and Liam asked me to photograph their Whitworth Hall wedding in Durham, not least because it is also a deer park! Although the wedding venue was cool, what really excited me about the day was Zoe and Liam who are two of the most laid back, fun and adventurous people you could wish to meet.

Zoe and Liam feed the deer at Whitworth Hall in Durham

Our first meeting was at Kielder Forest and Water park for an epic pre-wedding session at sunset. Zoe and Liam were totally up for scrambling over rocks and picking their way through forest trails so I knew the wedding day would be something special.

The room was buzzing when I arrived to photograph Zoe’s bridal prep and that happy, positive vibe continued throughout the day right onto the dance floor. There were so many smiles and hugs throughout the day I had aching cheeks from grinning so much.

‘When I said do you want a bottle, this isn’t what I meant'!’

The wedding venue was dressed in an Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland theme and you might be able to spot those design touches in the photos below.

It did rain on and off throughout the day, but that didn’t phase Zoe and Liam who still got out to feed the deer by hand, and take a few bride and groom portraits in the gardens. This meant that Zoe’s dress and shoes (personalised Converse!) got wet and muddy, but no-one cared. I love a brave bride and groom!
