I've been excited about this wedding since I met the couple and they told me their plans. The main reason is that they're arranging the wedding their way.
It's an outdoor wedding at Pot-A-Doodle-Do, which is a brave thing in itself here in the UK, where it's been raining since my sixth birthday. The wedding breakfast is a picnic where the guests bring all the food, and their flowers are made from the pages of old books.Read More

The stream was choked with rubbish; paper cups, rusting Coke cans, discarded crisp packets.
It hadn't looked like this a few years back, when Ellie & James came here on their second date, playing pooh-sticks and tentatively laying the foundations of their relationship. Building a connection that would culminate in them marrying each other later this year.
I wasn't going to be able to recreate that memory for them.
I had to create a new memory.
I had to come up with an interesting photograph of them, in this space, right now. It's a pressure I'm familiar with while photographing a fast-moving wedding day. It's a pressure I thrive on.
