I combined Zoe and Ed's pre-wedding session in North Yorkshire, on the border of the North Yorkshire Moors, with scouting out their wedding venue.Read More
Sometimes it's about picking a location that complements a couple and sometimes it's about picking a location that contrasts with a couple. Emily and John are a cool, creative couple into all things alternative, so driving out to Kielder Forest at sunset for an outdoors, romantic engagement couples session was a change of gears for them.Read More
Michelle, Wayne and I met at Newcastle Quayside on a wet and foggy spring morning. Yes, there really was fog on the Tyne!
It was touch and go whether we would go ahead with the shoot, but fortunately there were enough gaps between the rain showers to get the photographs we wanted.Read More
I hooked up with Emma and Paul on a wild, windswept day at Druridge Bay on the Northumberland coast. I was looking for couples who were up for a laugh and willing to try out some of the crazy photography experiments I had in mind. I met up with Hannah and Faraz at Chopwell Woods in Gateshead for our forest hike engagement shoot. They proved to be very easy to direct and were totally unfazed by public displays of affection, so the shoot became very intimate very quickly.Read More
I photographed Gail and Steve in the Ouseburn area of Newcastle, where I thought that the graffiti would match their urban cool. While drinking in the Cluny there last autumn I mentally filed the area away as one to suggest for my pre-wedding couple shoots. I had photographed a lot of couples in remote rural locations on the Northumberland Coast and Kielder Forest for example, and I wanted to experiment in a more gritty, urban style.Read More
Amy and Tom introduced me to a new location for my sunset couples shoots - Broken Scar in County Durham. What an evocative name, eh?
I'll use Amy and Tom's sunset couples session to talk through some of the experimental techniques and gear I used for their photographs.Read More
We had glorious weather for Lynsey and Alex's pre-wedding sunset session at Collywell Bay. The sun was shining, the air was warm and the sea was remarkably calm.
Add in Lynsey & Alex's own quirky style and the amazing light and I couldn't help but capture some beautiful photographs.Read More
