Frequently asked questions

  • Yes! These are your Grandma shots - the ones that end up on the older generations walls. But my focus is on capturing real, authentic moments so I recommend that you have 6 formal shots at the most, as each can take 5 minutes or so to set up. We’ll plan them out before the day and your ushers/best man/bridesmaid-with-a-big-gob can help me out by gathering the correct guests.

  • Every wedding is unique so it's impossible to give an exact number but as a rule of thumb I usually deliver around 50 photos per hour of coverage. That works out to 400-500 photos for a full day (8-10 hour) wedding.

  • Yes, you can and I’d encourage you to do so! Your high resolution images come without a watermark or logo. I’ll also supply you with a print release in your gallery just in case you get challenged in Jessops. The only restriction is that you can't use the photographs for commercial purposes (you can't sell them). So if your business plan was to sell your wedding photos to the publisher of the book ‘Awesome wedding couples and how you can be more like them’ you’re outta luck.

  • I know that you’ll be super excited to see your finished photos, but it’s important for me to spend the time to edit each photo individually. You are going to cherish them forever, after all. You’ll have your wedding photos in 4 - 6 weeks depending on the season (July to September can be bonkers!). I normally do a sneak preview of a handful of images within one week of your wedding. Portrait photographs are usually available after 2 weeks.

  • Yup. Your gallery is password protected, so just pass the link and password on to friends and family who have bought you something decent from your wedding gift list, and they will be able to view and download the photos. Your dotty Aunty who you provide tech support for will be able to order prints directly from the gallery because lets face it, that will be a lot easier than you trying to teach her how to download them onto a USB stick and take them into Boots to be printed.

  • Holy moly am I insured. I was covered for £2m but had to up that to £5m when I shot in the Laing Art Gallery. It costs me an arm and leg but I’m a pro photographer so it would be irresponsible not to. You’d be shocked at how many photographers aren’t insured.

  • Not the full three course meal ‘cause I’d probably fall asleep an hour later, but I’d appreciate a bar meal - something like a burger and chips or a sandwich. Photographing people eating is not flattering so I’ll take the time during your wedding breakfast to rest, refuel and check my equipment over (oo-er).

  • Whatever you like. Please bear in mind the location, but if you want to wear a mankini on the Quayside then go for it! But seriously, I have prepared a full guide that I’ll send you before we meet.

  • My normal 'office hours' are 9:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. If I'm not shooting a wedding on a Saturday, I'm available on that day too. If you'd prefer to meet one night after work, Mondays at 8:00pm are best for me. I can do other nights too but it depends what the kids are doing. Between swimming, football, music lessons, dentists, opticians, and everything else I don’t know whether I’m coming or going to be honest.

  • I live in Newcastle upon Tyne but I'm available for weddings anywhere in the UK and beyond. I don't charge extra travel or accommodation fees for mainland UK weddings*. For weddings outside the UK, add travel and accommodation costs to my usual fee.

  • Of course! What you see on social media or even on my portfolio page isn’t always a good representation of a full wedding day. Get in touch via my contact page and tell me what sort of wedding you are planning and I’ll send you a link to a full gallery. It will give you an idea of how many photographs you will get, what my style is, and how your online gallery will look.

  • Absolutely - much to the dismay of my poor wife who has helped me get this dream of mine off the ground. This isn’t a hobby or part-time thing for me as it is with some other wedding photographers. I’ve been shooting weddings full time for seven years and can give my business 100% commitment in terms of time and effort.

  • Kind of. I have a B.A. Hons. 1st Class in Media Production. I specialised in film and part of my application portfolio was photography based.

*I charge double for weddings in Sunderland. (Just kidding - I love you really you filthy Mackems!)

Yeah, great, but I still have a question
